RUDRA in Concert

RUDRA in Concert
Indian-Jazz Fusion Group

(Union City, NJ)  On Sunday, November 5, 2017 at 2:00 PM, Ronaldo Custom Guitars, LLC invites you to come enjoy an afternoon of live Music at the majestic Performing Arts Building located at 3208 Bergenline Avenue, Union City, New Jersey. Join us for an afternoon of creative fusion of timeless ragas to contemporary jazz.  The performers will explore the varied traditions of Indian music in our intimate, Black Box performance space.

The Black Box Theatre is a new 50-seat performance space that aims to give voice to unique talent in theater, music and the performing arts.

RUDRA music group is co-led by Bobby Rozario, a guitarist and composer with Indian and Brazilian/Portuguese roots and Premik Russell Tubbs (alto saxophone), formerly with the Mahavishnu Orchestra with John McLaughlin.  The event celebrates the release of their CD: "BOBBY ROZARIO with RUDRA" featuring Premik Russell Tubbs.

This unique ensemble blends North and South Indian styles with Western jazz. The concert celebrates the release of their new album of original acoustic fusions. Their compositions are marked by complex rhythmic and melodic structures played with uncommon speed, dexterity, and soulfulness. Their performances feature a free-flowing musical conversation, or jugalbandi, among the players.

The concert is free, as a service to the community by Ronaldo Custom Guitars, LLC.

The Performing Arts Building is the first of its kind in Union City and is the result of a unique private and public partnership. The mission of this collaboration is to consolidate the community’s effort to promote the arts under one roof.  Its driving belief is that what is good for the Arts is good for the Community and good for Business.

About the Artists:

Bobby Rozario is a guitarist and composer with Indian and Brazilian/Portuguese roots, based in New York City. A third-generation musician, he is trained in the Indian Hindustani classical tradition. He has developed his own unique sound, characterized by Hindustani gayaki-style playing that brings together the characteristics of sitar and sarod.

Premik Russell Tubbs (alto saxophone) got his musical start through his father, Harry Tubbs, a jazz trumpeter who played with John Coltrane. Premik has performed with many great musicians, including the Mahavishnu Orchestra with John McLaughlin, Carlos Santana, and Dr. L. Subramaniam. He has recorded world music records with spiritual teacher Sri Chinmoy, Steve Booke, and Shambhu Vineberg, as well as music for short films. His saxophone was featured on hits like “How Will I Know,” “Baby, Come to Me”.
